PS3 Online HUB
Sony will offer an online gaming service for the Playstation 3, similar to Xbox Live. Well-placed industry sources have confirmed that the PS3 will have an online service, which is currently being referred to as Playstation HUB, according to Next Generation.
The sources said that Playstation HUB would be a ’subscriber service’, support Sony’s Playstation Portable (PSP) handheld system, and offer features similar to Micosoft’s Xbox Live online gaming service.
No prices for the subscription were quoted.
If accurate, the news supports earlier reports that Sony was developing an online gaming service for the PS3 to rival that of Microsoft’s Xbox Live.
Next Generation also reported what sources believe will be the Playstation 3 release dates, citing September 16 and September 21 as the release dates in Japan and the US respectively.
